FAQ

About the product

What is bacteriostatic water?

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water that contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. The benzyl alcohol stops bacterial growth in the vial, which is what allows the same vial to be accessed more than once instead of being discarded after a single use.

How is it different from sterile water for injection?

Sterile water for injection contains no preservative. Once its seal is broken it is single-use and any remainder is discarded. Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol, so a vial can be accessed repeatedly for a limited period.

How long does a vial last once opened?

Up to 28 days from the first time the stopper is pierced. Write the date on the vial when you first access it. After 28 days the vial should be discarded, even if liquid remains.

How should I store it?

At room temperature, away from direct sunlight and away from heat. Refrigeration is not required and freezing should be avoided. Keep the stopper clean and use a fresh sterile needle each time you access the vial.

Which size should I order?

It depends on how much you use and how quickly. Because a vial should be discarded 28 days after first access, a size you will finish inside that window wastes less. Many buyers keep a mix: a larger vial for regular work and 3 ml vials for occasional use.

Are the vials sealed?

Yes. Every vial leaves us sealed exactly as it arrived from the manufacturer. We do not decant, repackage or relabel. If a vial arrives with a damaged seal, photograph it and email us within 7 days and we will replace it.

What is the intended use of your products?

Our products are supplied for laboratory and research purposes only. They are not supplied for human or veterinary use, and nothing on this site is medical advice or a claim about treating any condition.

Orders and delivery

When will my order ship?

Orders placed before 14:00 CET on a business day are dispatched the same day. Later orders, and orders placed at weekends or on public holidays, go out on the next business day.

How much is delivery?

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your address and shown in full before you pay. Nothing is added afterwards. See our Shipping Policy for delivery estimates by destination.

Can I change my delivery address after ordering?

Yes, if the parcel has not shipped yet. Email support@bacteriowater.shop with your order number as soon as you can.

Can I return an item?

Sealed, undamaged items can be returned within 14 days. Once a seal is broken the vial cannot be returned, because sterility can no longer be guaranteed — this is the health and hygiene exception in EU consumer law. Full detail in Returns & Refunds.

My order arrived damaged. What now?

Photograph the packaging and the contents before unpacking further, then email us within 7 days of delivery. We replace or refund the affected items and cover return shipping.

Which payment methods do you accept?

The methods available to you are shown at checkout. Card details go straight to our payment provider — we never see or store them.

Will I get an invoice?

Yes. An invoice is emailed with your order confirmation. If you need it issued to a company with a NIP number, reply to that email and we will reissue it.
